Flossie and the Fox
|
I liked this book’s story (though Thomas thought it was a “bit boring”), describing how a little girl outsmarts a fox. I liked the book’s illustrations, full of color and detail. I really liked the book’s length, Thomas’ previous books have been way too short (but the book was too long for the twins!).
But I didn’t like the fact that most of the dialog in the book has poor grammar, e.g. “You aine no fox. You a rabbit, all the time trying to fool me!”. IMO a seven year old doesn’t need to be exposed to bad grammar, misspellings, etc.. Interestingly, the fox is the only character who has a good grasp of English.
Thomas and I did make the most of it by going through the story again and verbally correcting all the errors!
