The Hobbit

We didn’t get any books to read from school today so Thomas read part of The Hobbit’s chapter 4. He’s reading this for pleasure. I wasn’t sure that a seven year old who be able to get through the book but Thomas loves it and is steadily working his way through it.

Teddy’s Second Chance

A book about a second grader who’s having second thoughts about putting his teddy away. Thomas reads this OK but after a promising start a few days ago he’s reading more monotonously. This isn’t exactly an exciting subject for him either.

Trucks

This is the first book that Alexander (nearly) read completely on his own. He just kept _trucking_ right along. He’s very proud of himself and I think he did a great job. The best part for him was listening to himself read the book.

The Weaver’s Tale

A Navaho tale that explains how White Shell Woman learned the art of weaving from Spider Woman and kept her people warm. A nice tale with pretty illustrations.

After The Flood

What happens after the flood? This book will tell you all about it! The watercolor illustrations are quite nice but Thomas didn’t think too highly of the book overall. Not enough dragons I think
